So it’s been about a month since INATS and you might be wondering, where are the product reviews?
Well, I’m working on that. In a way. Specifically, I’m working on trying to figure out what software to use on the home page that will not look too junky.
Setting up a webstore is no small task. I want self-hosted, preferably able to accept ProPay but if not I’ll take Amazon Payments and if I absolutely must I’ll go with Google Checkout. But really, I’d like to use ProPay, coz I get the money, like, right away. The others sit on your bucks for a while, with Amazon being the worst. But you do get paid in the end, so whatever, if people want to use Amazon, I’ll take it.
What I want is to be able to have all my products in one place, rather than click here to shop the “bookstore”. Click here to have these things drop-shipped to you from elsewhere. Or, click here to buy straight from ME, which will get you a lot of extra thank-you goodies in your package.
It’s damn frustrating. There are too many choices. All of them are ugly, but then, what DO I want my site to look like? That’s an even tougher question. None of the templates say “Metaphysical shop”, and none of them smell like a metaphysical shop. I have the same problem when shopping for cars. I don’t care for the way any of them look, all cars are ugly to me. It’s what’s under the hood that counts.
So until I figure out how I want to sell your products (and mine), I’m not doing reviews. But I am not just fooling around, either — I should be able to come up with a solution in the next couple weeks. Hang tight, authors, musicians, and publishers. Once I get the front end settled, I’ll go to town with your reviews.
