For those of you who follow along on Facebook or Twitter, this is old news. But we have finally opened a shop!
We snagged a great location in Oklahoma City right by the Red Cup Cafe, at 31st and Classen. Our official opening date was September 8, 2012. This is proving to be a great location, and our landlady is super awesome too. I love this old house!
Here’s a picture from about a month ago:
It’s really grown a lot since we opened, and now that we’ve been there about three months, it’s time for some new photos! Even the view above has changed. We got a new light fixture and have a lot more stuff on the counters.
We have a lot of room in our new space – nearly 2000 square feet. It doesn’t show well in this picture, but there is a purple room off to the right side that has some hoodoo, pagan, and GLBT items in it. The peach-colored wall (way back) now has a Victorian/boudoir themed tarot parlor parked in that corner. The far room has tumbled stones, crystals, candles, and some jewels, and the near room has more jewellery as well as soap, incense, cards, and puzzles.
I’d wanted a place for classes, and there is a little classroom area in the back. We’ll start doing classes after the first of the year.
There is a large back room where eventually all the bath and body stuff will live. I hope to get a good selection of men’s shaving accoutrements, from hand-thrown mugs to beautiful straight razors. That’s probably a way off, but so many New Age stores that cater primarily to women and leave the guys behind. This would be a neat way to include everyone! I enjoy thinking about the fragrances that I can create – I really love the musks and mosses that are usually classified as “masculine”. I tend to wear a lot of those fragrances myself.
We take consignment items from local artisans (please call us for an appointment and a contract… don’t just bring stuff in since we’re already very busy). Consignees will need to bring their own displays so please have that in mind before calling. I’m looking forward to doing some blog posts on our artists.
We’ll also post some more pictures and talk about the services we offer. I don’t know how many people who will set a candle for you in Oklahoma City but that’s part of what we do. We also do a LOT of custom work, whether it be a special set of pearl earrings, a custom birthstone pendant, a loaf of soap in your wedding colors or an anointing oil made specially for your situation – just ask us, because we love doing that kind of stuff.
